The images I’ve been uploading to my site have been very desaturated from how I’ve been processing them on my laptop. I made sure the sRGB color profile was still being attached to the images after being processed through Lightroom and/or Photoshop so nope, that wasn’t the problem. For months, I’ve been wondering to myself what was going on but didn’t attempt to fix it until the other day when I finally got fed up with it.
Was it a browser issue? I dragged my images into IE, Firefox, Chrome and Safari. The images showed up fine when doing that. So nope, not that.
So it must’ve been something with WordPress. Some googling led me to some results mentioning how the ICC Profile might be stripped once it’s resized on the server. Bingo!!!
I added a WP plug-in, Image resize wizz, and limited my images to 900px to go with the current theme that I’m using. Turns out that was stripping the ICC Profile from my images. Once I removed that and just let the browser resize the images based on width, my images look “normal” in the browser!
I went back and re-uploaded the images from my last three posts and yup, that was it.
Yay
